Self Publishing with Automatic Indexing

Wayne was deep in the throws of compiling his family book, a self publishing effort of many chapters and approximately 350 pages in length. The generational collection of stories cutting across the continent with contributions from many family members was bringing new life to their ancestry. Coming close to the point where this family's labour of love was coming together and with the length that the book had become, it was now almost imperative an index be included.

An index for a 350 page book was something that Wayne had not bargained on and the daunting task was almost too much. Not to be out-done, Wayne went looking for a solution and sent an email with this question...

"I'm looking for a program that will go through a Word document and extract a list of all words in the document. Is that something one of your programs will do? If so, is there a limitation of the size of the document?" Wayne H.

Our response to Wayne's question: Hi Wayne, Thank you for your inquiry. The xAIgent Doc-Tags app will extract the most Contextually Relevant keywords from a Word document of any size. Depending upon the granularity of keywords you want extracted will influence the subscription option you want to sign up for. The more granular, the higher the number of keywords you want extracted will require a higher capacity subscription.

To which Wayne responded: "Thanks for your quick response. Let me tell you what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm wanting to create an index for a family history book I will be publishing soon. The method Word suggests is not one I prefer. Way back in the Word Perfect years (1990s) the task was much more simple. You could create a list of all of the words in the document, delete the ones you didn't want to add to the index (especially "the" "and" "of" etc.) and the ones remaining became the index.

My designer, using Adobe InDesign, wants me to give her a list of all the words I want to be in the index of my 350+ pages book. I'd like to find a way to accomplish this as I did in Word Perfect years ago - a "delete from the list" method.

Does your product do what I need? Or, do you know of such a program?"

Our follow up response: Hi Wayne, Appreciate the follow up note! We have the perfect solution for you – The Document Index Generator You will want to download the full program Document Indexer Download and then sign up for Intro or Get It Done subscription (will depend upon how long your book is and the granularity of index you want to have).

For any assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

Wayne's Response: "It worked like a charm. Took ten minutes and I’ve passed the index of words along to my designer."
